Nuray Ocaklı (2016-2017)

Post-Doctoral Tubitak Researcher Bulgarian Voynuks: Determining the change in their status, mapping their assigned position and settlements from the fifteenth to the early sixteenth centuries.

Hitomi ITO (2017-2019)

PhD candidate in the Graduate School of Literature and Human Sciences at Osaka City University, Japan. Research project: “Policy Change Regarding the Provisioning of Istanbul and the Influence on Merchants in the Eighteenth Century”.

Fiona Gedeon Achi (2016-2018)

Fiona is a PhD Candidate in the Anthropology Department at McGill University (Canada). Fiona’s research interests encompass the anthropology of development, economic anthropology, and the history of economics. Through fieldwork in India, Kenya, and the USA, her current research examines how recent evidence-based approaches to poverty alleviation bring forward novel ways of understanding and governing poverty at global scale. 

Dženita Karić (2015-2016)

She is MPhil/PhD student at the Department of the Languages and Cultures of Near and Middle East, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Her project is “Multiple centres and peripheries in Bosniak Hajj literature of the Ottoman period”.

Janetta Deppa ( 2015-2016)

She is granted Fulbright scholarship in this year. She is analyzing urban renewal policies in Istanbul, and how they financially affect low-income residents for her master thesis at the London School of Economics.

Başak Kilerci (2015-2016)

She is a D.Phil student in Oriental Institute at the University of Oxford” and she studies on the visibility of the Iranians in the late Ottoman Istanbul.

Linus Vanhellemont (2015)

He is a visiting Ph.D student at Dipartimento Di Architettura E Studi Urbani and a Ph.D student in Urban Sociology at Milano University. He is working on the Taksim and Gezi development plans.

Gökçe Sanul ( 2014, 2015)

She is a Ph. D researcher in Vrije Universiteit Brussel and  is currently working as a researcher at the COSMOPOLIS Center for Urban Research. She studies on the municipal cultural policies in Turkey through the case of Istanbul.

Thomas Ledford (2014, 2015)

He has a Fulbright scholarship and studies “Changes in rural migration patterns to Istanbul from the nineteen-fifties onwards.”

Gül İnce Bego (2014)

She is a Ph.D. student at Universita` Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano in Sociology, Organization and Culture. Currently, she is dealing with the issues of migration from Turkey to Italy.
